Life Skills Program (LSP)
The program is designed to empower newcomer youth with the information orientation and capacity building opportunities to aid their settlement and advancement within Canadian society. The program is delivered through a variety of delivery formats, including conferences, experiential learning activities, structured workshops, etc., covering a wide range of topics across career development, adjusting to a new education system, personal development, financial literacy, child/parent relationship, cross-cultural learning, mental health and well-being etc.
Media Empowerment Program
Our Media Empowerment Program serves as a vital channel for delivering essential information to newcomer youth, helping them access important resources and better understand key processes in a simplified way. Through in-depth interviews with subject matter experts, Black and African youth, and service providers, we examine the challenges faced by newcomers to Canada and explore practical solutions that government and community organizations can implement. These conversations are shared on YouTube and other social media platforms.
Education Support Program
We offer academic support services, including through a Homework Program that provides tutoring support to newcomer Grade 12 students as they prepare to transition into various pathways of post-secondary education. This is a drop-in program that runs during weekday evenings from 4-8 pm. Participants will be paired with volunteer tutors to support them with homework and exam preparation. Optional workshops on topics such as study tips, time management, adjusting to school in Canada, preparing for post-secondary education, academic integrity, etc. will be delivered.
English Conversation Hub
The is an informal weekly drop-in program designed to improve participants’ English language literacy. Through this program, participants will be able to practice their English with each other and volunteer in a non-threatening environment to enhance their vocabulary to be able to fully participate in society.
Career Planning Program
Our Career Planning Program offers one-on-one career coaching and job readiness training program to provide employment counselling to youth. The workshops are guided by a curriculum that covers topics such as job search, interview preparation, communication skills, workers’ rights, work-life balance, etc.
Counseling Program
Our Counseling Program offers essential support for newcomer youth and families facing conflict, crisis, or settlement challenges. We provide professional counseling and coaching to strengthen relationships, as well as pre-family preparation classes for singles and engaged couples focused on marriage, conception, and parenting. Additionally, we offer family cohesion counseling, guided by Christian principles, to help resolve conflicts in a constructive and faith-based manner. Our program also includes Christian counseling tailored to support women in their personal and spiritual growth. Through personalized guidance and evidence-based insights, we empower individuals and families to navigate challenges and build strong, resilient futures.
